Tuesday, 03 December 2013 00:00
On Friday, November 29, 2013, SpiceWorx conducted a Cross Cultural Communication Workshop for Japanese expats in Manila, in collaboration with Mr. Keisuke Taketani.  Mr. Taketani is a Cross Cultural communication expert who had conducted such workshop around the world during his tenure with Asian Development Bank (ADB), UNICEF, UNDP and Ford Motors.

SpiceWorx and Mr. Taketani jointly designed the workshop to help Japanese expats improve communication with Filipino colleagues, subordinates, superiors, customers and partners by understanding some basic concepts, frameworks and tools of cross cultural communication and various contexts of the Philippines such as history, culture, values and Filipino mentality.

Workshop participants' working experience in the Philippine ranged from only 2 months to 8 years and they came from various industries.  Through highly interactive and engaging workshop activities, participants gained much practical and useful insights. At the end of the session, all participants shared personal statement of how they would change their communication approach when they go back to their respective workplace.

In the post-workshop feedback, 60% of the participants rated they were highly satisfied,  and can highly recommend the workshop to other Japanese working in the Philippines while 40% of the participants rated they were satisfied and they can recommend the workshop to other Japanese.
SpiceWorx will be conducting the next Cross Cultural Communication Workshop on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 3pm to 7pm at AIM Conference Center Manila (ACCM) in Makati City, Metro Manila, Philippines.  More information (in Japanese) can be found here. (www.spiceworx.com/training)
